LP FOODS has started to work with suppliers to adopt better Food Safety practices, implement higher compliance levels and to search for more sustainable seafood sourcing partnerships. To kickstart this, LP Foods has travelled to Indonesia and Vietnam with Mr. Andre M Brugger (Netuno USA Sustainability and Compliance Manager) from 12th to 30th November 2017.

Together with Mr. Brugger, we visited processing plants in Indonesia and Vietnam to address the sustainability compliance matters and their social and ethical performance. We are also working closely with them on the new requirements of the NOAA Fisheries Services Seafood Import Monitoring Program for grouper and mahi export to the US.

We attended the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) Indonesia Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum held in the KKP Fisheries Ministry Building from 14th to 15th November. With Mr. Brugger, LP Foods had the chance to interact with the leading organisations on sustainable seafood such as WWF, The Nature Conservancy, USAID and Fair Trade.

Local NGOs Yayasan Alam Indonesia Lestari (LINI) and Yayasan Masyarakat dan Perikanan Indonesia (MDPI) also attended the event and presented their ongoing and prospective FIPs. Several speakers in the event also provided a great insight on the challenges and partnerships that FIPs encounter in their process. Mr. Brugger was also invited as a guest speaker to talk about “The Value of FIPs for Industry” keynote panel.
